Human Resources & Benefits Manager
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Screens resumes, sets-up interviews, conducts interviews, and hires with oversight
  • Onboarding of new employees, including payroll, benefits, and orientation
  • Completes Forms I-9 and verifies I-9 documentation
  • Inputting, updating, and maintaining all personnel records via PayChex HR Online and separate MS Word and MS Excel tracking documents
  • Training of new employees to promote professional development
  • Assists with processing of terminations
  • Semi-monthly payroll processing via PayChex
  • Provides support to the Executive Director
  • Personnel file set-up and maintenance
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested
  • Drafts office and personnel policies for review
  • Rewrites job descriptions as necessary
  • Prepares for and conducts annual reviews of support staff (all non-attorneys)
  • Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints
  • Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action
  • Monitors tardy and absenteeism and ensures proper documentation is issued on employees who have excessive tardiness or absenteeism problems
  • Manages the Learning Management System
  • Enrolls employees with benefit carriers and processes life status changes
  • Assists employees with benefit inquiries
  • Verifies benefit billing accuracy and reconciles benefit statements for payment
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, and FMLA
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities
  • Administers COBRA for group health plans
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Manages ACA compliance and reporting

Requirements VITAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ relevant experience, preferably in legal environment or other professional services industry but not required
  • Knowledge of HR concepts, practices, procedures, and law, including FMLA, COBRA, and ACA
  • Proficiency in MS Office Professional, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of basic office methods, practices, procedures, and principles related to employee policies
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact on a daily basis with all attorneys and support staff
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate competing priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using sound judgment
  • Ability to manage highly confidential, sensitive information requiring considerable discretion, judgment, and accuracy
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Ability to foster good morale and promote a positive and upbeat work environment
