HRMA OF GREATER SAINT LOUIS ANNOUNCES DIVERSITY LEADER AWARD WINNERS

September 24, 2008 -- The Board of Directors of the Human Resource Management Association of Greater St. Louis (HRMA) is proud to announce their first Diversity Leader Award. Ameren and the YMCA of Greater St. Louis are the 2008 winners.

H.R.M.A. has been the leading organization in St. Louis for human resource professionals for more than 50 years. It has been affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management, a national association with over 200,000 members since 1957. H.R.M.A. has consistently been one of SHRM's largest and most active chapters and has nearly 500 local members.

According to Patricia Henderson, the President – Elect of the local H.R.M.A. chapter, “The purpose of the award is to promote and encourage diversity best practices among organizations within the HRMA membership.” H.R.M.A. defined what it means to be a diversity leader with the following components: L eadership Commitment, E ducation, A lignment, D ynamic E ngagement, and R esults Measurement.

Dr. Benjamin Akande, Dean of Business and Technology at Webster University sponsored the award and will be the guest speaker. Dr. Akande will present the award to the winners then discuss the best practices that led to their selection.
